Accessing Course Content

You will come to a new page that will have more or less information than what my screen shows depending on how your professor has set up the courses D2L. Most, if not all courses should have a posted syllabus, so for examples sake we will demonstrate how to access it. The rest of the courses content will become clear through this simple example.

To get to the content, you have two options. Either in the header at the top of the page you can click on the content link that has an open book next to it, or you can click the content browser button. Both have been highlighted in the picture below. Both links should take you to the same content section of the courses D2L page.

On this content page, there is a table of contents bar on the left hand side of the page. From there you can select the type of content you are looking for. Most professors will have separate sections for lectures (potentially contains slides from the lectures and additional notes on the course), assignments (contains all of the assignments that have been posted thus far in the course) and a course outline tab (Which is typically where the syllabus is located). For now, we are interested in the syllabus, so go ahead and click the course outline, or any other tab that seems like it would contain general information on the course (Ex. Quick Links, Syllabus).

**** Special note. Some proffesors do not set it up this way, and instead opt to keep there outlines in an "overview" tab located a little bit above the table of contents. It is displayed in the next picture.

That is all there is to accessing course content. Anytime new content gets posted, you will see the number of pages that you have not viewed yet displayed next to the title so that you can always make sure you have viewed everything that has been posted.

Next step on our journey through D2L is learning how to upload an assignment. You can quickly access this page by clicking here.
